As the owner of one of the leading underground scanning companies in the United States, Enhanced Scanning’s Forrest Sim is often called upon to present at industry conferences and summits. Last month, he was asked to be a part of a roundtable discussion at the Common Ground Alliance’s Summer Summit, and this month, he will be a presenter at the Global Damage Prevention (GDP) Summit at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas, which will be held September 16-18, 2025.
The GDP Summit is an event we have attended several times before, and we have always found it to be a fantastic, well-organized, and well-attended event. The educational sessions tend to be very practical and cover topics that can make a real difference in the day-to-day operations of utility locating companies. The event is attended by many utility locating companies like Enhanced Scanning, as well as equipment vendors, and other industry professionals. It provides many great opportunities for learning, networking, and discovering what is up and coming in the industry.
At this year’s GDP Summit, Forrest will be presenting in one of the Vendor Sessions on the topic Utility Locating at Scale: How More Sensors and Fewer Steps Increase Productivity When Locating Utilities on Large Projects. Here is a brief description of his session: “When locating utilities on large-scale projects across tens, hundreds, or even thousands of acres, standard utility locating practices become impractical. In those situations, more sensors, more mechanization, and more data processing save time, reduce labor costs, and increase accuracy.”
If you have met Forrest, you likely have experienced his passion for the underground scanning industry! He is always researching new ways to make utility locating more efficient, provide customers with more reliable results, and eliminate preventable damages and injuries in construction projects. He is also happy to share what he has learned with others in the industry (often in the most entertaining way possible)! Forrest is a natural teacher who brings valuable insights to whatever setting he is invited into. His extensive experience in large-scale scanning projects makes him the obvious choice to teach a session like this.
If you plan to be at the Dallas event, you can attend Forrest’s session on Tuesday, September 16, from 3:00-3:50. It is an in-person-only presentation. (It won’t be live-streamed or recorded to our knowledge.) Enhanced Scanning will also have a booth in the Exhibit Hall (booth 402) for the entire 3-day summit. Be sure to stop by and say hello if you’ll be there!
