GPR Scanning Services in San Diego for Current and Future Projects

Blog · April 11, 2026

If you’ve ever had utility locating or concrete scanning done on your property, especially if it was done by the free 8-1-1 service, at the end of the service call, you were probably left with markings on your ground or on your concrete. These markings identified the areas that need to be avoided when digging in the ground or disturbing the concrete. In the utility locating industry, red markings indicate the presence of buried power lines, blue markings show where water pipes are located, yellow is for gas lines, orange is for telecommunications lines, and green is for sewer lines.

The idea is that once the ground or your concrete is marked up in this way, you can move on safely with your current project, knowing where all utility lines are located.

Unfortunately, these markings only last so long. If they are spray paint markings on your dirt or grass, they disappear rather quickly. If they are on a concrete slab, they might get covered up at some point. If pin flags were used in the ground, those also don’t tend to stay in place for long. Then, if you want to do another project at a later date, you’ll likely have to call out a utility locating service again to have another scan done.

For a property owner in San Diego who has plans to complete multiple projects on their property, we suggest working with a GPR scanning service in San Diego, such as Enhanced Scanning, that can provide a deliverable which can be referenced on both current and future projects.

In addition to marking the ground to indicate the presence of utility lines, the utility locating technicians at Enhanced Scanning can also create digital or physical documents that show where they are located. We give our customers multiple options when it comes to deliverables. We are able to provide GPS overlays, CAD renderings, official stamped plans from professional land surveyors, or other types of documents, depending on a customer’s specific needs. These documents can then be referenced over and over again on future projects.

The free 8-1-1 service doesn’t provide these types of options. They also only locate public utility lines on a property, and typically only up to the utility meter. Anything else is up to the property owner to locate, including septic systems, irrigation systems, propane lines, and more.

All of the deliverables we produce for our customers are extremely accurate and thorough. Our team is known for finding things that other underground scanners might miss because we take the time and have the equipment needed to get a full picture of the subsurface.

If you are looking for a GPR scanning service in San Diego that can provide you with a full picture of what is located below the surface of your property that you can use on both current and future projects, contact us today at Enhanced Scanning.
